Teacher Notes
Expected Task 1 Overview
Public transport use increased in all three age groups from 2010 to 2020. The youngest group used public transport the most in every year, while the over-50 group used it the least. The largest overall rise was among people over 50, although their final percentage remained lower than the other groups.
Expected Task 2 Position
A strong answer should clearly agree, disagree, or partly agree. It should explain why public transport may reduce congestion, pollution, and inequality, while also considering the possible need for road maintenance or infrastructure in some areas.
Recommended Scoring Rule
Task 2 normally carries more weight than Task 1 when estimating the student’s overall IELTS Writing performance.
